Researchers Panlilio and Tirrell-Corbin have studied childhood trauma as part of their Trauma Sensitive Pedagogy (TSP) project (a classroom-level intervention that provides educators with knowledge and skills to address the learning needs of children who have experienced complex trauma). Four months into the pandemic, “every educator in our TSP project reported experiencing secondary traumatic stress…” Providing support for students and their families, as well as their own families, proved to take a toll on educators’ own mental health and well-being. The researchers discuss some possible solutions for dealing with the myriad issues brought on by the pandemic.
